About Stephanie Kable, founder of Live English

I’m Stephanie Kable, founder and director of Live English, an online English school for professionals, companies and teenagers who want to speak English with confidence. I started Live English in 2007 so that busy people could practise speaking with a native teacher without fitting their lives around a classroom.

Why I started Live English

Most of the professionals who came to us could read an English report without any trouble. Put them on a call with clients, though, and they would search for words, keep their answers short, or let a colleague do the talking. Their grammar was fine. They needed more time actually speaking English, with a teacher who would correct them and remember what they had worked on the week before. That is what I set up in 2007: regular conversation with a native teacher, booked around a busy working week.

How we teach today

Every lesson is live on Zoom with a native English teacher, in 1:1 lessons or small groups of up to 12 people. Our teachers come from countries such as the US, the UK and Australia, and each one is selected for their experience and their ability to get students talking. Lessons follow your goals: meetings and presentations, job interviews, exams, travel or everyday conversation. You can meet them on our teachers page or read how our online English school works.

Who we work with

Every individual plan starts with a free trial lesson, with no credit card needed. Read what our students say on our testimonials page.

Live French

I also run Live French, our sister school, which uses the same approach for people learning French.

On the blog

I edit the Live English blog, where our team writes about business English, grammar, vocabulary and exam preparation to support what students practise in lessons. You can also find me on LinkedIn, on my personal website and on Gravatar.
