What is the TOEIC exam?
TOEIC stands for Test of English for International Communication. It is one of the most widely used tests for measuring workplace English, and recruiters around the world use it to check that candidates can communicate in an international working environment. The TOEIC comes as two separate tests. Most people take the TOEIC Listening and Reading test, which is scored from 10 to 990. There is also a separate TOEIC Speaking and Writing test that measures spoken and written production.
The TOEIC Listening and Reading test has 200 questions across seven parts. Listening (Parts 1 to 4) takes about 45 minutes with 100 questions, and Reading (Parts 5 to 7) takes 75 minutes with 100 questions, so the whole test runs about two hours. Each of the two sections is scored from 5 to 495, and the two add up to your overall 10 to 990 score.
